По горной царственной дороге
Вхожу в родной Иерусалим
И на святом его пороге
Стою, смущён и недвижим.
Меня встречает гул знакомый:
На площадях обычный торг
Ведёт толпа. Она здесь дома,
И чужд ей путника восторг.
Шумят открытые харчевни,
Звучат напевы дальних стран,
Идёт, качаясь, в город древний
За караваном караван.
Но пусть виденья жизни бренной
Закрыли прошлое, как дым,
Тысячелетья неизменны
Твои холмы, Иерусалим!
И будут склоны и долины
Хранить здесь память старины,
Когда последние руины
Падут, веками сметены.
Во все века, в любой одежде,
Родной, святой Иерусалим
Пребудет тот же, что и прежде, -
Как твердь небесная над ним.
