Letter from editor, hillarious
Nov. 23rd, 2011 12:36 amConstraints on photo content due to our distribution in Saudi Arabia:
We avoid showing (as much as possible) Christian crosses; women in shorts or skirts above the knee; men without shirts; and women in tank tops or other sleeveless tops; nor do we depict alcohol, either in glasses or even in bottles on a shelf or table. Now you might be laughing and saying "but this is Russia in the summertime!" and I have to respond by saying that it is just what we need to do. For example, if one of your portrait subjects is a woman and she is wearing a short skirt, photograph her from waist up; if she also has on a sleeveless top, maybe there is a scarf she can add, or you can do a tighter closeup. If there is a city view that includes a large cross on a church, maybe there is an angle where the cross is not seen so easily. Being aware of these will help make your shooting more efficient!
