L. goes to University gym to practice squash. In the middle of his practice two American guys show up. They move right into his court. A bit surprised he asks what's the matter. They say – it's two of us, and you are playing by yourself, why don't you leave. He suggests they use another court, ‘cause there are plenty of empty courts available. They respond that they like this court better (it is a bigger court).
(My reaction was – ask them to answer quickly YES or NO - whether they like this court better or worse than Iraqi oil fields).
He says - oh, well, I like this court better too, so should I ask campus police to help us resolve the issue?
And they respond - what country are you from? Is it like everyone there is like this?
- Yes, I'm from the country where everyone is like this.

Was it indeed a conflict of cultures?

Yes. Now take a random newspaper article about random conflict - it will paint it as a conflict of [fill in whatever suits the newspaper ideology better]. Can't fool livejournal folks though!
