Вчера в универсаме, в детском отделе, беременная продавщица другой:
- I hate kids. I just hate them.
(Подбирает упавшие майки и складывает стопочкой на полку).
I know I'm pregnant and I shouldn't say that. But I just hate them. They ruin everything and I have to pick it up.

i'm glad i often don't think of what to say to people i overhear until long after the fact. i'd probably have been beat around too many times to count by now.

It never occurred to me to say anything; she is a pregnant store supervisor, she has to pick up all these t-shirts the kids pull from where they belong and put them back in order, day after day; she has a boring job and she is probably tired. Once her baby arrives, she may as well become a good mother.

i was in charge of keeping the two toy aisles neat back during my stint as a drugstore clerk...yeah, kids can be horrible. my work was never done.

Много. Но культ чадолюбия диктует, что любить надо детей вообще. Поэтому эта бедная продавщица и считает, что ей негоже ненавидеть результаты разрушительной детской деятельности и равнодушие родителей этих детей к разрушению плодов чужого труда.

Да, это правда. Мы все такие, I guess. Пытаемся выглядеть как-то, потому что нужно соотвествовать какому-то стандарту.
